Ada and street vendor’s kid Mexico — Food Vendor Mexico — My car wash guy David

Well…somewhat.

I was going to do a video to update everyone of our life changes here in the US, but the past month or so has been fairly hectic and to make matters worse I came down with a cold (mainly just a bad cough), lost my voice. It has now been over two weeks and I am still having difficulty talking. So to my point, making a video would have been out of the question.

Anyway we are now on the road to Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with the Fant family, and very much looking forward to spending time with them again. And, it will be the first time they have met Ada.

Before I tell you what we are up to in our jobless and homelessness I want to let you all know about two family members who have passed in the last few weeks. Our cousin Peggy (71) died of the rare and deadly Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). Her funeral is on November 30 in Auburn CA. Another cousin Janet (67) succumbed to COVID. My understanding is that Janet was not in good health and susceptible to serious infection.

I did not get acquainted with Janet since being here in the US but I have spent a bit of time with Peggy and her husband Bruce. We caught up in New Orleans in 2018 and Ada and I attended their 50th anniversary in 2019. I remember being at their wedding just prior to moving to Australia in 1969.

So far on our trip we have been to Los Algadones, Mexico. We both had some dental work done. I updated and replaced the lenses in one of my pair of glasses and bought a pair of prescription sun glasses as well as stocked up on a year’s supply of Nexium tablets. Combined we saved thousands of dollars for those two days in Mexico. Right now we are travelling through Texas.

I will continue this series of blogs over the next few days so everyone will be up to date with our plans…Love you all!

Wesley and Ada

  1. Have a great time as ‘gypsies’. I look forward to seeing more updates, especially from Georgia and Florida.
Love to you both 💙 Karen
