For The Sake of The Patriarchs
God’s Covenant Faithfulness from Abraham to Christ
Imagine God looking upon a world that had repeatedly rejected Him. Adam had fallen. Cain had murdered his brother. Humanity had filled the earth with violence until the flood came. Even after Noah, mankind united once more in proud rebellion at Babel. If God intended to redeem the world, where would He begin?
Surprisingly, He did not begin with a nation. He began with a man.
From that single decision flowed nearly every major theme of the Bible—Israel, the Messiah, the church, and ultimately the blessing of all nations.
To understand why the New Testament speaks of believers as children of Abraham and why Paul could say that Israel remains “beloved for the sake of the patriarchs,” we must first understand why God chose Abraham.
