This first series will be about “The Old Man”, and will commence the first week in January, 2021. Who is this old man, and how do we respond to him in our daily lives? Of course, the term “old man” is used generically, and a biblical term that refers to a human being and is not a term that is gender- oriented.

The apostle Paul had much to say about this old man:

“knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. “
(Romans 6:6)

And, Jesus said:

“I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.” (John 3:5-6)

This series is going to explore what the bible says about the “old man”, the “flesh”, and the “spirit”. How do these aspects of our being affect our daily living, and how do we deal with it?

I will draw on the teaching of Watchman Nee, and perhaps a few others as we go through every subject of this series. Watchman Nee has addressed this subject better that anyone I know. And Sam, our stickman will assist us with pointers along the way.

Watchman Nee was a church leader, writer and teacher during the early 20th century. He planted Christian churches all over mainland China and travelled extensively preaching the gospel. Following the Communist Revolution, Nee was persecuted and imprisoned for his faith and spent the last twenty years of his life in prison. The following web site will tell you more about him, for those who want to know more.
